Supporting adults who work with young victims of crime

We are London Youth: a charity on a mission to champion and strengthen London’s youth organisations so young people have the opportunities and skills they need to succeed. We do this with and through our members – a network of 600 youth organisations – and at our two outdoor residential centres, Hindleap Warren and Woodrow High House.

Trusted Youth Allies  aims to ensure that as many young victims of crime in London as possible feel listened to, supported, and empowered.

As part of MOPAC’s statutory responsibility to ensure support is available for victims of crime in London, the Young Londoners’ Victim Service run by Catch 22 has been commissioned to deliver targeted support. One key element of this service is the Trusted Youth Allies programme, delivered by London Youth.

This initiative is designed to train trusted adults in the community—those who may receive disclosures from young people affected by crime, particularly when those young people choose not to report incidents to the police. Research shows that around two-thirds of young people in London do not report victimisation, making this kind of community-based support all the more essential.
